I was in Grade 6. One day, my dad's car was broken into and all of the stuff inside was stolen, including my backpack. It had my binder (活页夹), my textbooks and my notebooks, where l used to write stories. I was really 1 .

What subject do you worry about the most at school? Many students worry about math. Some students can't sleep well the day before a math exam. Others may feel very nervous during the exam itself. But there might be a way to make the subject less stressful.

"For people who are anxious about math, posture (姿势) makes a big difference," Erik Peper from San Francisco State University told the Daily Mail. That's right – sitting up straight can help you do better on math exams.

Scientists tested 125 college students. They asked them to do a simple math quiz while sitting in a slumped-over (趴倒的) position, or sitting up straight. After the test, 56 percent of students said the exam was easier to do if they were sitting up straight. 

Slumping over is a defensive posture. It can trigger (激发) negative (消极的) memories in the body and brain. This can stop you from thinking clearly, Peper said. 

Students who were not nervous about taking the math exam did not necessarily benefit from better posture. But they did find that doing math while slumped over was more difficult, Science Daily reported. 

Good posture isn't just helpful for taking math exams. Athletes, musicians and public speakers can all benefit from better posture. When you feel stressed out, you can also try to sit up straight or stand tall. It can help you feel more positive and focus better.

Pinocchio had a fever. The Fairy took a glass of water with medicine and said lovingly to Pinocchio, "Drink this, and you'll be up and well."

Pinocchio looked at the glass worriedly and said, "I'd rather die than drink that awful medicine."

At that moment the door of the room flew open and in came four Rabbits as black as ink, carrying a small black coffin(棺材) on their shoulders.

"What do you want?" asked Pinocchio.

"We have come for you," said the largest Rabbit.

"Oh, Fairy, my Fairy," the Pinocchio cried out. "Give me that glass! Quick, please! I don't want to die!" And holding the glass with his two hands he swallowed(吞下) the medicine quickly. Then the rabbits had to leave.

After that, the Fairy added, "Pinocchio, tell me how you were in the hands of the robbers last time."

"I had five gold pieces to give to my Father, but on the way I met two robbers. They tied my neck with a rope and hung me to a tree." said Pinocchio.

"Where are the gold pieces now?" the Fairy asked.

"I lost them," answered Pinocchio. As he spoke, his nose became at least two inches longer.

"And where did you lose them?"

"In the wood nearby." At this second lie his nose grew a few more inches.

"If you lost them in the nearby wood," said the Fairy, "we'll look for them and find them."

"Ah, now I remember," replied Pinocchio, "I did not lose the gold pieces, but I swallowed them."

At this third lie, his nose became longer than ever. The Fairy sat looking at him and laughing.

"Why do you laugh?" Pinocchio asked her, worried now at the sight of his growing nose.

"I am laughing at your lies."

"How do you know I am lying?"

"Lies, my boy, are known in a moment. There are two kinds of lies, lies with short legs and lies with long noses. Yours, just now, happen to have long noses."

Every year, millions of birds are killed or hurt when they fly into buildings. Why does this happen?  Birds are flying into windows and tall buildings that are all covered by glass.

Many birds fly from one place to another. Most of the time, they live in the wild, such as forests and wetlands.  They might see small trees and flowers inside a window and want to rest on these plants. The birds do not know there is glass between them and the plants.  

Some birds fly at night. They use the moon and stars to help guide them in the right direction. Tall buildings with lights on at night can confuse（迷惑）the birds.  The birds see the light, but they cannot tell that the light is coming from inside a building. They fly toward the light and crash into a building. On many mornings, there might be several dead birds lying on the ground.

  Many office buildings now turn off their lights at night. This helps reduce the number of birds that fly into buildings and it also helps save energy.

Hanfu has become popular again in recent years. A growing number of young people in China are starting to wear the  (tradition) Han Chinese clothing. The style has even attracted some foreigners. One of them is Rian, a young man from Brazil.

Rian lives in Xi'an. Two years ago, he came to the beautiful city and became English teacher at a kindergarten.
