People often call the plastic bags "white pollution". It becomes the worst invention for the humans. Because it is hard to break down （分解）. It is reported that it takes 100-200 years to break them down completely. However a 16-year-old high-school Canadian student called Daniel Byrd discovered that through one kind of mysterious single cell fungus （真菌） may break down the plastic bag!
The idea of the invention comes from his housework. He always helps her mother do the housework. Every time, when he opens the closet, the plastic bags will fly out. This makes him very angry. So he thinks how to deal with these plastic bags. He knows the plastic bags are destroyed by the microorganism （微生物）. So with his teacher's help, he found that he put the two germs mixture up and that makes the plastic bags break down quickly.
He made an experiment （实验） first, he put some earth （土壤） germs and plastic bags together. After 12 weeks later, he found the plastic bags have been broken down. He made another experiment, in the natural environment, these germs can work well. The experiment showed that the plastic bags can be broken down in three months. And it only gives out some water and little carbon dioxide.
He wanted to go to college with the money he got from his invention. And now he got about 30 thousand dollars. He has got a lot of reward from many universities.
