My favorite animal is a cat. It's only 4 months old. It's small and it's white. But its legs are black. It's very interesting and cute. But it's kind of lazy. It sleeps 9 hours a day. It doesn't sleep at night. It likes fish very much. Yesterday it caught a mouse. My family was very happy. How lovely it is! We all love it.

Ted is an artist. He is tall with long curly hair. He usually gets up at nine thirty in the morning. First he runs for an hour, then he eats breakfast. He likes eggs, bananas and apples for breakfast. He doesn't like meat or hamburgers. Ted never watches TV in the evening. He likes painting pictures. He goes to bed late, at about eleven o'clock.

Ted also gives art lessons. He is a good teacher. All his students like him. He usually takes a bus to the school and walks back home. Ted now lives in a small house in the city. He wants to have a painting show. He is working hard for it.

The Youth Club is open every afternoon after school and all day on Saturday. You can come once (一次) a week, twice (两次) a week, or more times. It's up to you! In the Youth Club, we are one big family. I believe you can make a lot of new friends.

Last week my grandpa called me. He asked me to spend my vacation with him. He lives in a village. I was very happy and told him to visit him when our summer vacation began.

On last Tuesday, my parents took me to the supermarket and we bought some delicious food. They told me to take it to grandpa. The next morning my dad took me to the train station. It was the first time for me to have a trip by myself. But I felt relaxed. The train left at seven. I looked out of the windows in the train.  I wasn't tired at all.

At four in the afternoon my train arrived at a station. I saw my grandpa standing outside. I got off the train and ran to him. 

His village was about two kilometers from the station.  I looked around. The mountains were high and green. I had a good time there.

Crossing the river to school

How do you get to school? Do you walk or ride a bike? Do you go by bus  by train? For many students, it is easy get to school. But for the students in one small village in China, it is difficult. There is a very big river between their school and the  There is no bridge and the river runs too quickly for boats. So these students go on a ropeway to cross the river to school.

One 11-year-old boy, Liangliang, crosses the river  school day. But he is not afraid because he loves school. "I love to play with my classmates. And I love my teacher. He's  a father to me." Many of the students and villagers never leave the village. It is their dream to have a bridge. Can their dream come ?

Jeremy likes to help his parents at home. He spends time playing with his sister when Mom cooks dinner. After dinner, he does the dishes. But Jeremy's favorite job is to feed Fletch, the white and black family cat.

One night after dinner, Mom asked Jeremy to look for his sister's model plane in the backyard (后院) . Jeremy opened the kitchen door and ran outside. The model plane was easy to find. Jeremy took it to the house.

Later, Jeremy went to say good night to Fletch before going to bed, but Fletch wasn't in its room. Jeremy looked in the living room and dining room, but Fletch wasn't there. When he got to the kitchen, Jeremy started to cry (哭).

"Jeremy, why are you crying?" Mom asked.

"I can't find Fletch," he cried. "I left the back door open! Fletch ran away."

"Cats are smart," Mom said. "Fletch may come home for breakfast."

Jeremy was so worried about Fletch that he couldn't fall asleep (睡着) all night. The next morning, he went straight to the back door. Then he was surprised to find that Fletch was there. Jeremy was so happy that Fletch came back!
