Mobile phone has become a problem for middle schools. Some middle schools in Australia have banned （禁止） students from carrying mobile phones during school hours. 

Mobile phone use among children has become a problem for the school this year. Several children have got mobile phones as Christmas gifts, and more students will want them. 

Mary Bluett, an official, said mobile phones'  use is a distraction to students during school hours and it also give teachers so much trouble in their classrooms. Teachers were also saying that sometimes students might use phone messages to cheat during exams. 

Many teachers said students should not have mobile phones at school, but if there was a good reason, they could leave their phones at school office. They also said there were many reasons why the students should not have mobile phones at school:they were easy to lose and were a distraction for studies. Many people say that they understand why parents would want their children to have phones, but they think schools should let the students know when they can use their mobile phones. 

Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true. Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it' s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don' t worry about it. Here are some suggestions for you to bridge generation gap（代沟）. 

Don' t argue with your parents. Your parents probably won' t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don' t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter. 

Try to reach a compromise（和解）. Perhaps you and your parents disagree（有分歧） on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael' s mother didn' t agree with him about buying a car. They argued over it, but finally they came to a compromise. Michael bought the car, but only drove it on certain days. Of course your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect（尊敬） to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong. 

Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life. 

A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try. 

 " Today I will give you a special test, " said the English teacher with a smile on his face. 

All the students sat up straight and waited for the test to begin. The teacher began to give the test papers to all the students. After he finished handing out the test papers, he asked them to begin. 

The students were very surprised to see that there was not a question but a black dot（圆点） in the center of the paper. The teacher noticed the students'  surprise and said, " I want you to write about what you see there. "  At the end of the class, the teacher took all the students'  answer sheets and read the answers. All of them described the black dot. After reading all the answers, the teacher said, " Here everyone only paid attention to the black dot, but no one wrote about the white paper. " The whole class listened silently, because they were afraid to fail in the exam. Then the teacher said,   " Don' t worry about your marks for this test. I just want you to think about our life. The white paper is like our whole life and the black dot in the center of the paper represents （代表） problems in our daily life " . 

Our life is a gift given to us by God, with love and care. However, we just pay attention to the problems like illness and poverty, and never see happy things in our life. So we should try to solve our problems and enjoy each moment life gives us.

In America, many schools start before 7:30 a. m. But that may change soon. A new law has been passed in California. According to the law, middle schools should not start before 8:00 a. m. The government hopes school children will have longer time in bed. 

Many scientific studies show that teenagers are more active in the afternoon and in the evening. Simply telling them to go to bed earlier doesn' t work well. Most of them don' t get enough sleep because of bad sleeping habits and early school starting time. They need more sleep in the morning. Scientists suggest middle schools should start at 8:00 a. m. or later. Students can get well ready to learn and they won' t fall asleep in class. ▲ The change can help improve students'  grades. 

While scientists are happy with the new law, many parents disagree with it. They won' t be able to send their children to school before they go to work. They also fear that later school starting time will lead to later ending time. As a result, their children will have less time to take part in after—school activities.
