JUST ASK
Hi, I'm David, a writer from the UK. Here, I team up with readers to help solve teens' problems.
I never had the confidence(自信) to raise my hand and answer the teachers' questions in class. I'm afraid of saying the wrong answers and then my classmates will laugh at me. What should I do?
Date: Apr. 15th, 8:09 PM
Hi, Carol! I used to be like this at school. So I know it can be hard to build up the confidence. As for my advice, just do it! Don't worry about what other people are thinking. Your learning and your engagement(参与) are just as important as anyone else. I think your teachers will be happy to see you joining in more than before.
Be confident and I don't think other people will laugh at you. If they do, so what? Don't take it seriously. If you can show that you are not bothered(打扰) by it, you will have the confidence to answer questions and get more from your learning.

I opened it for him easily, and he thanked me. But I felt quite shy when he said thanks to me.
A week later, we started to receive military training(军训). We needed to gather at 6:30 a. m. every day. However, I was still in the bed at 6:00 on the first day. My roommate woke me up and I really thanked him. Luckily, neither of us was late for that day's training. Later, I had a talk with him. "Perhaps we don't have to say thanks to each other so often because we have become real friends." I said. He thought over my words and nodded.
Over the next three years, we continued lo help each other, but we almost never said thank you. For many years, I didn't think it was necessary to say thank you out loud. I also felt embarrassed(尴尬的) after I had been thanked for offering someone just a little bit of help.
My attitude(态度) towards saying thanks didn't change until I helped a group of kids. It was a tiring walk when I was on my way home after a day's class. Some little kids threw the ball onto the tree by accident while playing football. They asked me for help, so I did. Then tho kids said "Thank you" one by one with big smiles on their faces when I handed the ball to them. I was surprised, but it really made me feel warm at that moment. I realized the importance of expressing thanks from then on.
Showing thanks is a polite way for a conversation. It will let the other side know that you're thankful for his or her action. So next time, when you feel thankful, express your thanks bravely.

C、The influence of his parents. D、The thanks from the little kids.(4)、In which order is the text written?A、Space. B、Time. C、Persons. D、Opinions.(5)、What is the best title for the text?A、Say thank you aloud. B、Ask questions actively. C、Offer help to others. D、Learn to make changes.3. 阅读理解According to Ken Croswell, the Sun and the Moon are different. We often think that the Sun rules the day and the Moon rules the night. That's kind of right, but not totally.
The Sun shines all the time. It shines during the day when we see it, and even at night when we don't.
As the Earth turns, sometimes we face the Sun. That's when we get day. When the Earth's spin (自转) turns us away from the Sun and we are in the Earth's shadow, we get night. When people on the opposite side of the Earth face the Sun, those people have day while we have night.
The Moon is a different story. Unlike the Sun, it doesn't make its own light. Moonlight is actually the Sun's light reflecting(反射) the Moon back to us.
The Sun lights up only the side of the Moon that faces the Sun. At Full Moon, the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. Then the side of the Moon facing the Earth is all lit up. During Full Moon, the Moon rises around sunset, shines all night, and sets around sunrise. Since he moonlight is so bright, you can sometimes see it during the day, too. A few days before Full Moon, if you look east in the afternoon, you may see the Moon in the sky. After Full Moon, you may find it if you look west in the morning.
The Moon is most difficult to see at New Moon, when its orbit(轨道) puts it between the Earth and the Sun. Then, the side of the Moon facing the Earth is dark and we can't see the Moon at all.
(1)、What can we know about the Sun?A、The Sun rules the Moon. B、The Sun shines during both day and night. C、The Sun lights up all the sides of the Moon. D、The Sun shines everywhere on the Earth at the same time.(2)、Which of the following in the dictionary best explains the underlined word "shadow" in Paragraph 3?shadow n.
①the shape of the Earth②the force from the Sun③the dark area on the Earth④the opposite side of the Sun
A、① B、② C、③ D、④(3)、What does Paragraph 5 mainly talk about?A、How the Moon makes its light. B、Why there is day and night on the Earth. C、Why the Moon can be seen during the day. D、What the difference is between Full Moon and New Moon.(4)、Which following picture shows us New Moon?A、 B、 C、 D、(5)、What is the theme(主题) of the text?A、Culture. B、Science. C、Education. D、Technology.4. 根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使文章意思通顺、内容完整。Have you found that it's hard to take your eyes off your phone? Are you afraid of missing any messages from your friends?
