As space science develops, man has learned more and more about space. Space is not only amazing but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing danger as well as success.
Scientists have found out that the radiation (辐射) is the greatest danger to spacemen in space. When spacemen are working in space, they are in danger of the radiation from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health.
The harm of the radiation won't be found until their children even grandchildren are born. Some special medicine may work a little, but no really effective medicine has been found so far.
Space rubbish is also thought to be a great danger to spacemen. It's reported that there were 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are satellites, 10% are spaceships, and the rest are space rubbish. An explosion (爆炸) in space in 1999 made a cloud of 300, 000 fragment (碎片), each at least 4mm in size. A small piece of these even knocked a spaceship window and caused some damage (损坏).
Scientists are watching and reporting any possible danger all the time. They are working to deal with space rubbish. Although space is really dangerous, it interests many people on the earth.
We may even choose to leave the earth and live in space in a few years. So we should do something to help improve the space environment.
(1)、The radiation from the sun and other stars is ________.A、good B、helpful C、useful D、harmful(2)、Space rubbish and radiation in space are dangerous to ________.A、spacemen working in space B、people only on the earth C、all the people except children D、the old people on the earth(3)、The passage talks about ________ kinds of danger in space.A、two B、three C、four D、five(4)、Which of the following is TRUE?A、Scientists have found out ways to solve any problem in space. D、Space is really dangerous, so it doesn't interest anyone on the earth.(5)、The best title (标题) of the passage is ________.A、Space Radiation B、Space Danger C、Space Junk D、Space Travel18. 阅读理解Why is it called Mars (火星) ? Well, Mars is the name of the Roman god of war (罗马战神) . People see the planet (星球) as a symbol of war for thousands of years. It is also known as the Red Planet because of its color. It is red because it's rich in iron (铁). Chinese people called it the "fire star" for the same reason.
Scientists was interested in the planet. They first saw Mars in the sky more than 4, 000 years ago. Then, people from all over the world studied the planet. About 200 years ago, scientists started to study pieces of Mars. They broke away and drifted (漂流) through space for millions of years before they got to Earth.
Scientists have learned some things about Mars. For example, Mars is home to a 21-kilometer-tall mountain—the tallest in our solar system (太阳系) . However, Qomolangma, Earth's highest mountain, is just 9 kilometers tall. Like Earth, Mars has moons. It has two moons named Phobos and Deimos. The Red Planet also has the largest dust storms (沙尘暴) in the solar system. And they can last for months.
Earth is 10 times heavier than Mars. So The Red Planet's gravity (重力) is only 37 percent as strong as Earth's, meaning you can jump nearly two times higher on Mars. For the same reason, you are two times heavier on Earth than on Mars.
(1)、Why does Mars get the name "fire star"?A、Because it is red. B、Because it is rich in iron. C、Because it is the symbol of war.(2)、When did scientists see Mars for the first time?A、Millions of years ago. B、Over 4, 000 years ago. C、More than 200 years ago.(3)、What does the underlined word "They" refer to in paragraph 2?A、Scientists. B、Pieces of Mars. C、Stars.(4)、We can know ________ about Mars in paragraph 3.A、the color B、the weather C、the size(5)、What can we infer (推断)from the last paragraph?A、Mars has stronger gravity than Earth. B、People are heavier on Mars than on Earth. C、People can jump higher on Mars than on Earth.四、多任务混合阅读
-
19. 阅读下面短文,根据其内容完成后面各项任务。
Scientists think that there has been life on the earth for hundreds of millions of years. However, we have not found life on any other planets yet.
The earth is a planet and it goes around the sun. Seven other planets also go around the sun. None of them has an environment like that of the earth, so scientists do not think they will find life on them. The sun and its planets are called the solar system, and our solar system is a small part of a much larger group of stars and planets, called the Galaxy or the Milky Way. There are billions of stars in the Galaxy, and our sun is only one of them.
Scientists have also discovered many other galaxies in the universe. They are very far away and their light has to travel for many years to reach us. So how large is the universe? 这是无法想象的。
Scientists have sent spaceships to the planet Mars to take photos. They have even sent spaceships to travel outside the solar system. However, no spaceship has travelled far enough to reach other stars in our Galaxy.
Scientists have always asked the questions: with so many stars in the universe, are we alone, or is there life out there in space? Have there been visitors to the earth from other planets? Why has no one communicated with us? We do not know the answers...yet.
(1)、将文中划线的英语句子译成汉语。(2)、回答问题Why don't scientists think they will find life on seven other planets?
(3)、回答问题What does the underlined word "them" in the paragraph 2 refer to (指的是)?
(4)、将文中划线的汉语句子译成英语。(5)、从文中找出与下面所给句子意思相同的句子。But spaceships haven't travelled so far that they can't reach other stars in our Galaxy.

Do you know something about space? It is an amazing place! The solar system(太阳系) is in space.

The Sun is a hot, bright star. It gives off heat (热) and light. The Sun is close to the Earth. It is so large that it is almost as big as a million Earths. Most stars look tiny and you can only see them at night because they are so far away from the Earth.
There are eight planets in the solar system. We live on one of them—the Earth! Each planet moves in a way around the Sun. The Earth is called the Blue Planet because there is so much water on it and it looks blue in space.
Around the moon
The Moon is much smaller than the Earth. It may look as if it gives off light, but it doesn't. It looks bright because it reflects (反射) that light from the Sun.
A. It gives us everything and it's our home.
B. It travels around the Earth.
