Cornell Precollege Summer Programs 2022: Updates

At this time, Cornell University Precollege Studies makes a plan to offer online and in-person, on-campus courses for high school students during summer 2022. Courses will be held during the following sessions:

Three-week Session 1 (June 1 — June 17, 2022): Online courses only

Three-week Session 2 (June 21 — July 9, 2022): Online and on-campus courses

Three-week Session 3 (July 12 — July 30, 2022): Online and on-campus courses

Six-week Session (June 21 — August 3, 2022): Online and on-campus courses

Precollege on-campus summer courses and COVID-19

In the event, if we are not able to offer in-person, on-campus courses due to COVID-19 restrictions, as many courses as possible will be converted (改变) to online offerings and you'll have the following options:

⒈ If your on-campus course is converted to an online course, you may automatically register for it at a reduced charge that reflects only academic (per credit), not residential fees.

⒉ If you prefer, or if your on-campus course is not converted to an online offering, you may select a course from the list of previously scheduled online courses

⒊ You may contact us to withdraw and request a full refund (退款), minus the application fee.

While we know there is no replacement for our on-campus, residential experience, the good news is that all online courses are regular Cornell classes that give you a chance to study with Cornell faculty (学院), work alongside undergraduates, earn college credits, and get a head start on preparing for college applications.

A five-year-old dog named Kelsey has been praised as a hero for helping to save the life of her owner who slipped in the snow and broke his neck.

The man, Bob, was alone when he left his Michigan farmhouse on New Year's Eve to collect firewood. Expecting a journey of only several metres, Bob was wearing just long johns (衬裤), a shirt and slippers when he went outside, although the temperature was around -4 ℃.

After the accident, he was unable to move in the snow. Fortunately, Kelsey came to his assistance.

Japan

United States

A typical menu from a US school is made up of a hamburger with fried potatoes or roast chicken, lettuce and pickles, fruit and cookies. School lunches must also provide at least one-third of the daily dietary allowances(定量) of protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium and calories.

Australia

Meat pies, sausage rolls and hot dogs are all traditional dishes in Australian school shops. But as the nation pays more attention to children's health, healthier foods have started to find their way onto school menus.

Many schools have used a traffic light system. The sale of red-labelled(标签) foods, including pastries, chocolate and soft drinks, is served only twice a week. Healthier green-labelled foods such as sushi, sandwiches, com and watermelon, however, are available every day.

In some schools, students have a choice of up to 89 foods to choose from, including popcorn and rice.

South Africa

Most of South Africa's schools do not serve meals at all. Classes end at 1:30 p. m. and students get their own lunches. Many students bring food from home, usually sandwiches.

However, the rapid development of "pay-for-knowledge" has a few problems. For one thing, the market is full of eye-catching words such as "How to be an Industry's Expert in 5 Hours" and "15 Classes to Be a Master of Appreciating (欣赏) Classical Music", which sound like if you pay for it, you are sure to succeed. For another, a large number of customers buy them just for showing off. In fact, those who have really had self-growth after buying online courses may be the kind of people who need them least. In other words, with or without these courses, they can make it anyway, because they are those who have the ability to learn by themselves.

In general, the best is the one that suits you most. "Pay-for-knowledge" may be used as a good start for self-growth. Be careful! Otherwise, your dream of success may not come true.

Going camping is one of the best ways to get in touch with nature and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. However, thorough plans before a camping trip may be boring. Just follow these simple camping suggestions to make your trip safe and rewarding.

Choosing a suitable tent

 When determining the size of your tent, you should take into consideration the number of campers as well as the camping equipment (设备) necessary for your trip. There should be enough room in the tent for the camping equipment.

Importance of food

While camping, you will need enough food to give you enough energy for your outdoor activities.  You should use a two-burner stove to do all your cooking. Insist on simple cooking during your trip to reduce cooking time.

Enough sleep

All campers should have enough sleep during the night. Nights are generally cooler than the days so you need to have enough warm clothes to feel comfortable to sleep during the night.  Extra air mattresses (气垫) may be included in your camping equipment to make your bed more comfortable.
