There are many wetlands in China and some of them have become the world's important wetlands. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are among them. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are home for many different kinds of animals. The world's largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve is in them. More than 700 Milu deer live freely there. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world, but every winter you can see some in the Red-crowned Crane Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands.

The temperature in the wetlands is usually neither too high nor (既不…也不…) too low. There is a lot of rain and sunshine, too. They are really good places for wildlife. Offering(提供) food and home for some special kinds of animals is not the only reason why we need to protect wetlands. Wetlands are important because they also prevent flood (洪水). But some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and less space for wildlife.

Luckily, more and more people are beginning to understand the importance of wetlands and wildlife. Every year, on February 2nd, many activities are held to tell people more about wetlands.

There are many kinds of tigers all over the world, and the largest tiger is Northeast Tiger. Most Northeast Tigers live in the northeast of China, like Heilongjiang Province and Jilin Province. Because there are many forests and mountains, the tigers usually like living there. In the forests and mountains, there are fewer people getting out and coming in. So the tigers are very free. They can run after each other, catch and eat some small animals, like rabbits and deer.

The Northeast Tiger are different from the ordinary tigers. For example, the Northeast Tigers can swim very well, but can't climb the trees. The Northeast Tigers' hearing is the best, and no matter how low the sound is they can hear it.

As the number of the tigers becomes smaller and smaller, we should protect the tigers as well as we can from now on.

In some places in North Africa, great cities once stood. There were gardens and trees and grass. But now these places are like deserts. Scientists have begun to study this land to find out what happened. Many of them think the land died when the trees were cut down. Trees help other plants grow. Tree roots hold the earth in place. They stop the soil from being blown away. In forests, leaves on the ground keep rainwater from running off. Trees near farmer protect growing plants from strong winds.

Once there were hundreds of farms in the Southwestern United States. Then the farms turned into fields of dry land, because few trees grow in the dry Southwest.

Now we try to save trees. In many forests, when a tree is cut down, a new tree is planted in its place. We do not want the land to die.

Years ago, if a person had some problems in his life, he might go home and write in his diary. Now he might go onto the Internet and write about them in a blog(博客).

Differences between a blog and a diary

Usually, a person thinks of his diary as a book full of secrets. He does not want to share. But in the blog, anyone can read what he writes.

Problems with blogging

The biggest problem with blogging is that anyone can read what you write.

It is easy to hurt others' feelings in a blog. Because we do not always think about things carefully before we write about our days. So we have to be very careful about what we write.

Keeping in touch with friends

Blogging has both good and bad points of course. People choose to blog because they know that their friends will read what they write.

Blogs are a very good way to write about daily life, if people are careful about what they write. However, I still prefer(更喜欢) writing in my diary!

Many kinds of birds live in the United States, but the number of the birds is becoming smaller every year. One of the leading reasons is the growing number of pet cats. By keeping your pet cats in your home, you can help give birds a better possible chance to live.

Of the 90 million pet cats in this country, about two—thirds are allowed to go outside. It is said that these cats kill hundreds of millions of birds each year, as well as billions of small animals such as rabbits and field mice.

They can also bring illness to the animals that live in people's yard(院子), further weakening the health of the natural populations.

Allowing(允许) pet cats to go outside is not just bad for birds and wildlife, it's also bad for the cats themselves. Outdoor cats can get sick very easily. They are in danger from traffic and attacks (攻击) from other animals. In fact, outdoor cats usually don't live past the age of five, while indoor cats often live to be 17 or older.

Keep your pet cat inside! If you raise a young cat, it's your duty to let it play inside.
