Shanghai is a big city. There are many famous buildings and beautiful places there, such as the Jinmao Tower (金茂大厦）and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower(东方明珠电视塔）. Shanghai is an international city. It is in the east of China. There are a lot of interesting places in Shanghai. Many people go sightseeing in Shanghai every year. There are a lot of shopping centres in Shanghai. Many people go shopping there. I like Shanghai very much.

    I'm Mike. I'm an English boy. I'm a pupil. I have a friend in China. His name is Xiaoming. Yesterday I got some postcards from him. From the postcards, I know there are lots of beautiful places(地方) in China. Look! This is the Changjiang River. It's the longest river in China. It's about 6, 300 km long. This is the West Lake. It's in Hangzhou. And this is the Huangshan Mountain. It's in Anhui and it's very famous. I like this one best. It's a picture of the Great Wall, It's more than twenty thousand kilometres long. China is so beautiful that I want to visit it someday.

There are four Chinatowns in New York. They have got at least(至少) forty-five streets. There are many Chinese people in New York. And there are lots of Chinese shops and restaurants in Chinatown. You can see all kinds of Chinese things there. Of course, you can speak Chinese when you are in Chinatown. At night, you can watch TV programmers in Chinese.

During the Spring Festival, they hang(挂) Chinese lanterns(灯笼). You can see Chinese dragon or lion dances. Chinese people in New York celebrate(庆祝) the Spring Festival as we do in China.

    This is Jim's bedroom, It's new and nice. There is a bed and a chair in it. There is a desk on the floor. There are some flowers on it. There is a bookshelf（书架）behind the bed. Some English books are on the bookshelf. There is a picture on the wall. Some people are in the picture. The man is his father. The woman is his mother. Who is the boy? Do you know?

I got a postcard from China on my birthday. It is very beautiful. The postcard is about the Great Wall. It's from my pen friend Daming. The Great Wall is very famous in the world. When I was five years old，I went to China with my parents and I visited the Great Wall. Now I think it is more beautiful than before. The Great Wall is more than twenty thousand kilometres long. People from all over the world go to China to visit it. I want to visit the Great Wall again.

    Everyone has his or her hobbies, collecting stamps is my hobby. I collect many kinds of stamps. Now there are many stamps in my room. I like stamps very much, because the stamps are beautiful and I can learn many things from these stamps. I plan to have many pen pals and I will often write to them. Then I will collect more stamps from the letters.

Lin Tao: I like collecting stamps. What about you, Mary?

Mary: Me, too.

Lin Tao: How many stamp albums（集邮册） have you got?

Mary: I've got three.

Lin Tao: Do you want to have a look at my stamps?

Mary: Sure.

Mary: I can give you some.

    This is my friend. His name is Jim. He is from America. But now he lives in England with his parents. He likes collecting Chinese stamps. And he has got many Chinese stamps. He wants to get more stamps about Chinese history. So one day he writes a letter to Yue Fei and sends it. After a long time, he didn't receive a back letter. Do you know why?

    The Mid-Autumn Festival is a very important Chinese festival. It used to be as important as the Spring Festival. It is on the 15th of August in the lunar calendar（农历）. A few days before the festival, everyone in the family will help to make the house clean and beautiful. Lanterns will be hung in front of the house. On this day, people usually get together with their families and have a nice meal. After that, people always eat delicious moon cakes, and watch the moon. The moon is always very round on that day, and makes people think of their relatives and friends. It is a day of pleasure and happiness. Hope you have a wonderful Mid-Autumn Festival!

    Children's Day is on June 1st. On that day, all children are very happy. We don't go to school. Most of the children go to the park. In the park, some children are flying kites， some are playing football, and some are playing a game. In the sky, there are a lot of kites. Once a year we will have this happy festival. I think Children's Day is the most important holiday for children. Because every child has fun on that day!

The Spring Festival is an important(重要的) festival in China.  Before the festival, we go shopping and clean our houses. At the Spring Festival, we have a big family dinner. We eat dumplings. After dinner, we stay up late(守夜) to welcome the new year. We watch the Spring Festival Gala(春晚) on TV. On the first day of the new year, we wear new clothes to visit our relatives(亲戚) and friends. We say "Happy New Year!" to them.

    I have a good friend. Her name is Lisa. She isn't Chinese; she is from the US. She likes studying in China. She likes Chinese food very much. She spent the Spring Festival in Beijing last year. She was very happy. She watched TV on the eve of the Spring Festival. She ate dumplings that night. Her father is a worker and her mother is a teacher. They love China very much. They think Chinese people are very friendly.

    I have some pen friends from different countries and areas （地区）.Tingting is from Hong Kong. She is 13. She can write emails and stories in English. She likes music and painting. Mike is from Australia. He is 12. He can sing English songs. He likes dancing and playing basketball. Jack is from New York. He is 11. He likes Chinese. He likes playing computer games.
