Two years ago, I took a bus to visit a friend living on a farm. My friend promised to pick me up from the bus station. Once I1off the bus, I pulled my two suitcases （行李箱）and walked to the pickup area. Unluckily, my friend got stuck in the heavy traffic and I had to wait2an hour at the pickup area. To make things worse, it started raining3half an hour later. Looking around, I was4 to find that there was no place to take shelter（躲避） from the rain. He told me nicely, "Yours is a special order. The head chef is preparing it himself. It'll take a little more time. Please have a drink when you wait. "I calmed down （冷静）and waited patiently. A few minutes later, my meal was served by six waiters.

To my surprise, the owner of the restaurant was a long—lost friend of mine. He saw me walking in and decided to surprise me. He turned my simple meal into a five—star meal for free. The people at the other tables were shocked and couldn't stop looking at me. They asked angrily why they didn't get that kind of service.

Such is life! Some people go ahead of you, laughing at you and talking about how they are smarter, better and luckier than you, while you are working hard day and night, wondering why it's taking so long for you to get reward （奖励） like them.

A lot of people have asked me lately how I manage （管理）so many WeChat groups. I'll share a few of the secrets for it.

Presently, I have more than 6, 200 people who subscribed  （订阅） to my public account and at least 10, 000 members in various （个别的） groups. Some of the groups are my personal groups. Others are English learning groups where I've been invited to share my free English lessons.

First, managing groups is really about managing people. The people who are connected with me are mostly targeted （针对性的）for my lessons. They either joined one of my groups or are in my contact list （联系人列表）. People have chosen to connect with me because they want to improve their English skills.

Second, I'm very slow at adding someone to a group. I often let them connect to my public account first. If they promote some kinds of business, products or service, I won't accept those people in my groups. They may bring some trouble to others. If so, I will delete them from my Friends' Circle quickly and make them disappear.

Third, if you don't want someone to advertise in your group, you need to set rules. I think putting ads in groups is the least effective （有效的） way of promoting （促销）goods. You have two choices when someone breaks your rules. You can warn them. If they apologize, then, I think you should give them a second chance. If they don't, kick them out of the group. It isn't worth time to argue with them.

We do eye exercises. We wear sunglasses. We do a lot of things to protect （保护）our eyes. But we usually forget another important part of our body—the ears.

Ears help us hear the world. But many things, such as loud noise, can cause hearing loss （听力丧失）. Once this happen, it's hard to get your hearing back. March 3 is Ear Care Day. It reminds us to take good care of our ears. So how can we protect our ears? Let's take a look together.

Keep your ears dry and warm

Dry your ears with a towel （毛巾） after swimming or taking a bath. If you feel water in your ear, shake your head a little bit. This can help you get the water out of your ear.

Also, when the sun is shining, wear some sunscreen （防晒霜）on your ears. During the winter, protect your ears with a hat or a scarf.

How to clean your ears

Usually, our ears can clean themselves. The earwax （耳屎） builds up, dries out, and then comes out of the ear along with some dirt （污垢）.

So don't clean your ears with anything sharp （尖锐的）. Sharp objects can make the earwax go too deep into your ears and hurt them. But if the earwax is making you feel bad, you can ask a doctor for help.

How to use headphones

Don't listen to loud music on your headphones for a long time. Follow the 60：60 rule：listen to music at 60 percent of your headphones' maximum volume （最大音量） for no more than 60 minutes a day.

Over the-ear （头戴式） headphones are better than in-ear （入耳式） ones. They do a better job of stopping outside noise, so you can listen at a lower volume.

During the unusual winter holiday in 2020, we stayed at home for two （month） because of COVID-19. But my father, a member of the Communist Party of China, didn't stayus at home for too long.

When my dad heard about some（use） work, he became a volunteer in a rural area to help check people's information and spread knowledge about COVID-19.
