    My good friend Laura is my cousin. She is five years (old) than me. I am fourteen years old, so she is nineteen now. She lives in Bristol. She is very (friend) and easy to get along with. She has long brown hair and big eyes. She wants to be a dancer when she  up.

    I am lucky that I have such a good friend.

    Can you climb trees? Maybe your parents ever told you, "Don't climb trees. It's ." But Xiamen University is going to have a new class: Tree-climbing.

    Zhu Chongshi, the president of Xiamen University, once visited Cornell University in New York, and he was surprised the course there. In Tree-climbing class, the teachers do not just let the students only with their hands. They teach the safety skills like used in rock-climbing. Students wear special caps and clothes to protect . And they use ropes so that they cannot or get hurt. The class is very useful. Students are to learn the skills, like swimming. In a time of disasters such as floods, earthquakes, etc., such knowledge may make a between life and death.

    No classroom subject could ever give them these skills. Students should find and develop their own inborn (与生俱来的) skills and talents. A teacher should no longer see the child as an cup and only pour knowledge into it. I hope climbing trees will up the potential (潜力) in many students.

    It was a fine spring day for a walk down the street. A mother and her two little girls walked along the sidewalk, happily laughing.1, a hundred small alien ships appeared on the horizon. They started2off some rays. People screamed. Children cried. There was3everywhere.

    There came the ting-a-ling sound of glasses breaking4. People fled in every5. The mother was jostled (推) and lost hold of her6. She raced around shouting and crying for her kids. She7they were lost to her forever.

As a volunteer(自愿者) teacher, I traveled a long way to a small village school in Longzhou, Guangxi. On my way there, I thought about the village, the school and the childrenn there. However, my heart sank when I arrived there. It wasn't what I expected. It didn't look like a school at all! The school had only three rooms, one for Grades 1, 2 and 3, and the other for Grades 4, 5 and 6. There was a third one for me.

The children welcomed me warmly on my first day. They asked me a lot of questions, and I told them stories about myself and my life in Shanghai. The next day, I gave them a test to find out their level（水平）. To my surprise, though the test was very easy, over half of the students failed it, yet they all wanted to learn new things. I knew they needed me.

I was busy preparing lessons and reading test papers every night. I enjoyed teaching these lovely and hard-working children, and I could see that they were making progress(进步) with my help. I have also learned a lot from them. I understand their level is becoming higher and higher, and we are good friends now.

I worked in Longzhou for a year. I'm very happy, and the experience(经历) is very useful to me. I love the small village and the children. In fact, I would like to continue working here.   

    What do you think the future will be like? Here are some answers from some students.

    Mary: Everyone will have a computer at home. There will also be many machines in the future. Then people will work only two or three days in a week.

    Jack: The weather in the future will be very hot. People can't live on the earth. They will have to look for (寻找) another planet to live on.

    Linda: I think the life in the future will be nice. There will be a lot of flowers and trees. And cities will look like parks.

    Henry: Every family will have a family doctor, so people will be seldom ill (很少生病) They will live to 120 years old.
