It tells the supermarket's computer when you need more food. It only orders the food you like.

Opposite Day
Opposite Day is on January 24th each year. It is a strange but fun day. Whatever you say on this day must be the opposite of what you mean. If you say 'yes', you mean 'no'. Opposite Day can be a very useful day for students to get out vocabulary notebooks and find the opposites, to different words. Students could focus on prefixes that are used to give a word an opposite meaning, for example, 'un' in 'unhelpful' and 'unnecessary', or 'il' in illegal' and 'illogical'.
Inspire Your Heart With Art Day
January the 31st is Inspire Your Heart With Art Day. On this day, you can create your very own work of art or go and visit art museums. People should take the time to find out art and make it a bigger part of their lives. Art can change our way of looking at the world. Unluckily, many of us stop being creative when we move from childhood to adulthood. There is so much art around us but many people take little notice of it. There is so much art in the places we work, live and play in that we don't even have to step into an art museum.
World Read Aloud Day
World Read Aloud Day is celebrated each year on the first Wednesday of March. Its aim is to encourage the almost 800 million people worldwide who cannot read to enjoy the benefits of a book. Lit World says: Celebrate by reading aloud, giving away a book, or taking action in any way you can to Read.

Playing with apps on smart phones is very common among young people. Let's try some special apps and enjoy them.
Butter Camera
In this app, there are many filters (滤镜) that can make your photos more beautiful. But the coolest thing is that it can help you add pretty and artistic words. The words can be anything you like. They can be your own words, famous sayings or even a poem. You can make a photo diary that shows your feelings.
TaoMix 2 (自然之声)
Sometimes, you may feel tired after a busy school day. Why not try this app? This is a music app. But the sounds in it all come from nature. There are over 100 sounds of nature, such as bird calls, wind and rain. You can hear all these sounds. The best thing is that you can create your own music by recording other sounds you like, for example, the sound of your own laughter.
Beaker (烧杯)
Is chemistry your favorite subject? With this app, your smart phone turns into a beaker. You "pour" chemical materials by touching the upper right-hand corner of your smart phone. This is a light-hearted book filled with colorful pictures. The book mainly tells that all feelings are OK, which is important for children to understand. This is a great introduction to talking about feelings. The funny pictures and simple words are perfect for young children.
This book is more likely to catch boys' attention, although girls may enjoy it too. The basic message is that everyone has feelings. The pictures in this book are of superheroes that look disappointed, sad, embarrassed and so on. The final page is beautiful: a dad and his little son are reading together. They're tough guys "who love each other very much".
This book invites children to imagine that everyone carries a bucket(桶) filled with good feelings. We can help fill people's buckets by doing kind things. One of the many good things about the book is that it talks about the fact that we should fill our own buckets by taking care of ourselves. It also talks about the fact that doing nice things for people makes us feel good.
The three books can help you teach your children about their feelings and how to manage them. As a primary school teacher, I've used them to teach my students about different feelings. Helping children learn to express and manage their feelings can lead to an increase in confidence(自信心).
(1)、According to The Feelings Book, children should know .A、all feelings are OK B、it's important to be happy C、picture books are expensive D、hiding feelings is not that bad(2)、 may be more interested in Tough Guys.A、Adults B、Parents C、Boys D、Girls(3)、What can we learn from Fill a Bucket?A、We should try to read more books. B、Helping others can make us feel good. C、Boys like to read books with their dads. D、It's necessary to carry a bucket around.五、阅读理解(本题有15小题,每小题2分;共计30分)

It should come as no surprise that kids are spending a lot of time in front of screens. According to a new study, teens from 8 to 12 years of age spend an average of fourandahalf hours each day watching TV or using a digital device(数码设备). For teens from 13 to 18, the average is sixandahalf hours. But those numbers hide a bigger, more complex picture.
Common Sense Media conducted the study. Here are some truths and some myths (错误看法) that the study revealed(揭示):
Truth 1: Some teens spend too much time looking at screens.
Young people are still spending time watching television, especially tweens. One in five tweens uses screen media more than six hours each day, and 18% of teens are looking at their screens for more than 10 hours a day.
Myth 1: This is the end of reading.
While the average time young people spend reading, either in print or on a screen, is only 30 minutes per day, kids who took the survey say reading is one of their favorite activities.
Truth 2: Boys prefer video games; girls prefer social media.
Among tween boys, 71% enjoy playing video games, twice as many as tween girls. And while more than 25% of teen boys list playing video games as their favorite media activity, only 2% of teen girls do. Teen girls, meanwhile, spend about 40 minutes more each day on social media than boys do.
Myth 2: The Digital Revolution is making young people more creative than ever. Tweens spend an average(平均)of five minutes and teens nine minutes per day making something creative with all their digital tools, whether it's art, music, or writing.
(1)、From the survey, we can conclude(推断)that .A、kids don't like reading any more B、teen boys prefer sports to social media C、kids are becoming much more creative D、more tween girls like video games than teen girls(2)、The text is mainly developed by .A、giving examples B、listing figures C、analyzing causes D、following time order(3)、What is the text mainly about?A、The survey of social media. B、The facts about kids and sports. C、The truth about kids and technology. D、The myth about teens and technology八、阅读理解(本题有13小题,每小题2分,共26分)

Different types of maps have different uses. Tourist maps, for example, have signs to show places of interest in an area. When tourists read these maps, it is easy for them to find where to go and what to see in a place and it is easy for them to go and find their ways to these places.
Road maps show large areas so that people can plan long journeys. Different types of roads are given different numbers. For example, if you want to go to Wood Green, you just follow No. 621 Road and keep looking at the road signs.
Distribution maps (分布图) use colors or signs to show facts about an area. For example, where different languages are spoken, how many people live in an area, how cold and hot some places are, or if a place is short of water.
