I am Wan Li from China. I came to the UK with my friends for a short visit. We are living with an English couple, Mr and Mrs Green, in the west of London. They have a wonderful four-bedroom house. This is a new house. It has two bathrooms and a garden with many beautiful flowers. I have a bedroom of my own.

There are some shopping centres and restaurants near the house, and the house is close to an underground station. It takes about thirty minutes to get to the centre of London.

I think a homestay may be a good choice for you if it is your first time to visit abroad. The local people are friendly and willing to help. If you happen to celebrate the holidays with them, you will get to know more about western culture and customs.

In the universe, as we know, there is the sunvthe moon, the earth and many stars. Through our geography lessons, we know the earth goes round the sun, and the moon goes round the earth. We have day and night because the earth keeps turning all the time. When our part of the earth turns to the sun, it is day. When our part of the earth turns away from the sun, it is night.

The cartoon series Bears Note《熊出没》is popular with people of ages in China at the moment. Bald strong, a logging（原木）team bossvcame to the beautiful Heilongjiang forest to harvest logs with a boss, Lee's trust. But the forest had hidden（已经藏着）two terrible rivals（对手） forest owner, bear brothers!Xiong Da and Xiong Er!

Looking at the forest was destroyed, bear brothers decided to fight with Bald strong to protect the forest. Xiong Da is so clever that he can beat Bald strong easily. Xiong Er is not as clever as his brother but his brute force（蛮力）. But the cunning（狡猾的）head cannot leave so easily. For a long time home defense（防 御）lasted and Bald strong tried different thoughts to beat bear brothers and cut down logs, but every time he failed. The cartoon story shows us an active topic in laughter, and two bears facing the failure feel hopeful. It also tells us to protect forests, protect the environment, protect ecological balance（生态平衡）in our everyday life.

It's important to learn how we can protect the environment. Here are 5R rules for us.

Reduce   If you want to reduce waste, you should use things more wisely.   If everyone uses paper carelessly, soon we would not have any trees left. Other things are also being wasted, and people don't know what to do with the waste in big cities. So it is necessary to reduce the amount of waste we produce.

Reuse  You should always think of reusing things before throwing them out. For example,  . In a family, you may pass on such clothes to younger brothers or sisters.

Recycle  Bottles, cans and paper can easily be recycled. By doing so we save lots of time and money. For example,  The metal can be used to make new coke cans.

Recover    You have two choices: one is to throw the apples away, the second is to throw the rotten ones and keep the good ones. In this way, you are recovering the eatable parts of food.

Repair   If one of the legs of your table is broken, you should repair it. If you want to buy something newer and better, it is better for you to sell the old item, or

Learn the rules to protect our environment. Let's try our best to make the earth cleaner and more beautiful.    

Everyone, rich or poor, can have happiness （快乐）. You don't need to think too much about those1people. Time is very important to us. When and by whom were the watches or clocks invented？ Perhaps nobody knows. How could we tell time if there were no watches or clocks anywhere in the world？The sun was probably the world's first "clock"，except in the far north，where the Eskimos live. There，it's dark most of the winter, and light most of the summer. But in most of the world, people have used the sun for day. If you don't have a clock that shows time, you still know that when the sun shines, it's day, and when it's dark，it's night.  The sun can not only tell you whether it's day or night but also it's morning，noon，or afternoon. When the sun is almost directly overhead, it's noon. People who live near the sea know time from the tides（潮汐）. In the daytime, for about six hours, the water rises  higher and higher on the beach. The same thing take place again at night. There are two high tides and two low  tides every 24 hours. In some places in the world the wind comes up at about the same time every day or changes direction or stops blowing. In these places the wind can be the clock.
