Jack and Li Xuan are good friends. On Sunday they are in Li Xuan's room. Li Xuan's room is very clean and tidy. There are two windows in his room. Near the window there is a desk. On the desk there is an ink bottle, a lamp and some books .Beside the desk there is a bed. On the wall there is a phone of Li Xuan's family.

Daming is in America now. He's sending an email to his family, He misses Beijing. Simon tells him there is a big Chinatown in New York. There are many Chinese shops and restaurants there. And there's Chinese dancing, too. Daming wants to go now. But it's too late. They'll go tomorrow.

There are four Chinatowns in New York. They have got at least(至少) forty-five streets. There are many Chinese people in New York. And there are lots of Chinese shops and restaurants in Chinatown. You can see all kinds of Chinese things there. Of course, you can speak Chinese when you are in Chinatown. At night, you can watch TV programmers in Chinese.

During the Spring Festival, they hang(挂) Chinese lanterns(灯笼). You can see Chinese dragon or lion dances. Chinese people in New York celebrate(庆祝) the Spring Festival as we do in China.

Big Bull looked at the grass and the trees. He looked at the fence. This was his home. He was bored at home.

Big Bull was not staying here. He pushed down the fence and ran into the city. When people saw him coming, they ran into a shop. Big Bull ran after them. People ran up the escalator (自动扶梯). So did Big Bull. But—oops! Big Bull got stuck.

A man shouted, "Get the fire fighters! They will have to come and help!" The fire fighters came with tools. They pushed the escalator out and they pushed Big Bull off. "Come on!" said the fire fighters. "We will take you home. But don't come back here again!" When Big Bull got home, he looked at the grass and the trees. He was not bored because home was good.

    I'm Sam. I have a pen pal, his name is Li Ming. We all like reading books. He's from China, and he gives me some stamps about famous Chinese people. He also tells me something about them. I know his hobby is to collect kites, so I send him different kites from America, and tell him many stories about America.

    Last summer holiday, I went to China and visited him. He told me something about many famous places such as the Great Wall, Tian'anmen Square and the Summer Palace. I had a great time in Beijing.

    Sally is eleven years old. She comes from America. Now she studies in a primary school in Nanjing. She can speak English and a little Chinese. She has a good friend named Judy. Judy is one year younger than Sally. Judy is from Australia. She can speak Chinese well. She can help Sally with Chinese.

    They have different hobbies. Judy likes playing the violin. But Sally doesn't like playing any instruments (乐器). She doesn't like music at all. She likes reading novels(小说). Harry Potter is her favourite novel. She would like to read it again.

    Do you know what is the White House? Perhaps(也许) some of you do, while others don't.

    The White House is a house in Washington, D. C. The president(总统) of the US works in it. It is really white. But do you know why the White House is white?

    The story happened in 1812. That year England was at war (与……交战)with America. The British army (军队) got to Washington and set the president's house on fire.

    In 1814, in order to hide the marks of the fire(隐藏被火烧的痕迹)，the stone(石头)walls of the president's house were painted white and it has been the "White House" ever since.

    Betty comes from America. She speaks English. She can also speak a little Chinese. She's in Tianjin now. She's studying in a middle school.

    She has classes on weekdays. On Sundays she often plays games with her Chinese friends. Her father is working in Tianjin. Her mother teaches English. Betty and her father like Chinese food. And they like China and the Chinese people very much.

    The traffic lights are the same in every country. There are always three lights: red, yellow and green. Red means "Stop". Yellow means "Wait", and green means "Go". In China, drivers drive on the right side of the road. In the US, drivers drive on the right side too. In the UK and Australia, however, drivers drive on the left side of the road. If you go by car, by bike or on foot, you must know the traffic rules.

Dear Amy,

    I'm going to be in Hangzhou with you next month. Do you believe it?

My mother is going to come with me. We want to go to the West Lake. It is very famous. People say it is really fantastic. It is the place that want to visit most (最).

I want to buy some Chinese stamps and Chinese kites for my friends. I think they will like these presents.

    I will take my camera with me. I want to take photos of the West Lake.
