    Now people are trying to make the world a better place for birds to live in. People in China start the Bird Loving Week. Students from all parts of the country have been doing something to care for birds.

    Meng Yiru, a l6-year-old student from Nanyang Model High School in Shanghai, asked people to protect birds: Never put birds in cages. Go to visit them in the wild if you really love them.“ I'll never forget the little sparrow(麻雀) I kept in a cage," said Meng.“It stopped eating after I caught it and soon died. ”Meng and her classmates put many of their ideas in their 300- word report to ask people to take better care of birds.

    China is the home of more than 1,000 kinds of birds because the country is large and has almost every weather type to suit them.

    But not everyone knows how to take good care of them. Some cut down trees and destroy the birds' homes. This has made the number of the birds go down quickly. A study shows that one out of eight birds, more than 1,200 kinds, in the world could die out. This includes 95 percent of albatrosses(信天翁) and 60   0percent of cranes(鹤). Some birds you see every day, like pigeons and parrots, are also in danger!

    To help them, people have set up about 7,500 reserves which are suitable and safe for the birds. In China, there are big reserves like the ones near the Dongting Lake in Hunan and the Poyang Lake in Jiangxi. Is there anything that you can do for birds? Take care of their homes, Feed them with something delicious. Well, think it over and begin to do it now!

    We all know people call Taiwan the Treasure Island of China. It is very beautiful. Recently we have been closely connected.

    Several months ago, a group of 19 Taiwanese children flew to Chengdu in order to begin a tour to study pandas. The middle school children were from Chiayi County in southwest Taiwan and were chosen because of their excellent performances at school.

    During the visit, the children saw pandas up close. They were very excited to see so many pandas at the same time. The children also traveled to the Mount Emei scenic area and met local schoolchildren.

    At last, they said, "The pandas are very cute, and we are all happy." They also said the children in Chengdu were very friendly to them, and they all liked there. They hoped to visit Sichuan again.

    Lao She Teahouse opened in 1988. It is named after the famous Chinese writer, Lao She(1899-1966) . At Lao She Teahouse, visitors sit in an old Beijing setting, and can drink the delicious tea in China. They watch all kinds of traditional Chinese performances(表演) and enjoy delicious traditional Beijing-style snacks(小吃) . Since it opened, Lao She Teahouse has entertained(款待) many famous people all over the world. The teahouse can hold(容纳) up to 600 guests at a time. At Lao She Teahouse, there are opera fans activities from 2：30 to 5：00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. There are also opera and folk music performances from 2：30 to 5：00 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons of each week. People can enjoy performances of Peking Opera, folk arts, acrobatics and magic shows from 7:40 to 9:20 every evening.

    Beijing Opera used to sound strange to Dou Yi. The 14-year-old Beijinger said whenever she came across Beijing Opera on TV. she changed the channel(频道).

    But since Dou entered the Xuanwu branch school of Beijing No.15 Middle School, she has been studying Beijing Opera in music class every week.

    Dou and her classmates listen to Beijing Opera and learn the basics(基础知识) from professional actors.

    “We laugh sometimes because the tunes(声调) are really hard to learn. ” said Dou.

    “After all. I am no longer a layman(外行). ”she said.

    Since 2008, schools around the country have been teaching students Beijing Opera. Clearly. Dou's school has been taking the job seriously.

    Yang Ning, 14, is Dou's classmate. She has been studying Beijing Opera since she was 8.She is a member of the school's Beijing Opera club.

    Yang said she had learned a lot from Beijing Opera.

    “I learn a lot of history from the operas. ”she said.“ I've also found out about many ancient poems. since there are so many of them in the operas.”

    Yang doesn't think everyone can learn to sing Beijing Opera well. But she does say that it's helpful for all people to learn about it.

    “The more you learn about it, the more you understand it. It would be a great pity if it did！” she said.

    Once upon a time, some children were f at the seaside when they caught a turtle. They beat it with stones. Just at that time, a young man came up and d them away. The turtle was very thankful and said, "Thanks for your kindness. I would like to invite you to a fantastic place. ”

    The young man rode on the turtle's back and was t to a secret palace in the sea. When he reached the palace, he was amazed at the sightseeing, “What a nice palace!" To t him, the king of the turtles gave him a very big dinner. He hadn't e so much delicious food before. He was pleased with everything.

    After dinner, the king said, “I'm going to give you two boxes, but you mustn't open both. Do r it!" The young man promised(保证) that he would o . _only one. Just then, a large wave sent him out of the sea.

    After g back home, he opened the bigger box. To his surprise, the box was full of gold s brightly. “My God! I'm rich now!" Then he thought, “There must b something more expensive in the other box.” He broke his promise and opened it. Suddenly he became an old man who was over 80 years old. He was so sorry for what he did, but it was too late.

    There is a nature park in the southwest of our city. The government built it (protect) the rare animals. The nature (park) has been the (symbolize) of our city.

    Yesterday my friends and I visited it. The workers there asked us not (feed) animals. Many animals are in (dangerous) because people kill them for their meat and fur. Another reason is that people are taking their land and making their water (undirty). The situation becoming very serious.

    I learnt much yesterday. I think people should (set) up more comfortable houses for the animals and help them live  peace. We should do our best to protect them, because protecting them is protecting ourselves.
