    Hawking was born in Oxford, England, on January 8, 1942. During his life, he married twice, and had three children. When he was a kid, Hawking went to school in St. Albans—a small city near London. Although he did well, he was never top of his class. After leaving high school, Hawking went first to Oxford University to study physics, and then he went to Cambridge University to study the universe (宇宙).

    At the age of twenty, Hawking started noticing that something was wrong with him. Later, he went to the hospital and doctors said that he would die before he was 23. But Hawking didn't give up. In 1988, Hawking completed his book A Brief History of Time. In the book, he talked about many things, like the universe, the big bang (宇宙大爆炸) and the black hole.

    Who is the fastest? It is the sailfish (旗鱼). Its bill (嘴) is long and thin. Its fin is like a big sail (帆). These things help it swim fast. It can swim 100 km an hour. That is as fast as a car on the highway.

    Seahorse is a fish! And it is a very different kind of fish. Father seahorses give birth to (生产) baby seahorses. It has a pouch (育儿袋), and the mother seahorse lays eggs in it. The pouch can carry 2,000 babies at a time.

    Do you know flat (扁平的) fish? Its eyes are on one side of its head. It is a flounder (比目鱼). When flounders are newborns, their two eyes are on different sides of their head. After about 20 days, one eye moves to the other side.

    Confucius (孔子) is the greatest teacher in Chinese history. He was born on September 28,551BC (公元前) in the Kingdom of Lu, in today's Shandong Province. When he was young, he and his mother had a hard life. At the age of fifteen, he began to learn music, and he did well in it. Then he went on learning other subjects. When he was thirty, he became a teacher. He started his own school. He believed everyone should have a chance to get education whether (无论) they were rich or poor. He had about 3,000 students and many of them became famous.

    Chinese see Confucius as the greatest thinker and also the greatest teacher. His most important ideas are kindness and good manners. He said young people should take care of the old. People should stop thinking of themselves and work for others. His ideas are around in people's everyday life. Today people can still hear them, and they go far into east and south Asia.

    I was born in Lizhuang. It's a small town in Sichuan. Many famous (著名的) people lived there for a long time. Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin were two of them. Today, lots of visitors come here on vacation.

    And I lived with my grandparents here. Their house was big but old. The wall was white and tall. There were five rooms in the house.

    I felt interested in Lizhuang. Sometimes, Grandpa and I rowed a boat on it Sometimes, Grandma and I washed clothes in it. This river was very important to the people in Lizhuang.

    There weren't many children in Lizhuang. We liked to walk around the old town after school. We often played hide and-seek(捉迷藏). It was interesting.

    I am very happy. But I want to go back to Lizhuang one day. I want to see my grandparents and friends again.

    Tina is my English teacher. She is from England and is about 29 years old. She (have) blonde hair and she always wears a pair of (glass).

    She is strict us in our study, so all the students are well—behaved in her classes. She is strict, she can get along (good) with all the students because she is very kind and (patience).
