One day, I am reading a newspaper when my wife calls me in the kitchen, "Will you come here and make your daughter eat her food?"

Jane works in a small office. Her boss, although kind, is sometimes a bit foolish. He likes to keep lots of plants in front of their office to attract(吸引) customers.

It is quite useful. When Jane is meeting new customers almost every customer likes to have a look at the colorful plants.

Jane's another work is to water the plants. This is one of her favorite jobs to do around the office, because it allows her to spend some time outside away from her desk. She does it every morning before starting her work.

One afternoon, her boss came to her desk and kindly asked her to water the plants. "But sir, it's raining outside all morning..." she said.

"Oh! I see, so you didn't water them today. Why don't you take my umbrella when you water them?" the boss said.

As Peter was flying towards the ship, he passed the crocodile(鳄鱼) It had swallowed (吞) a clock that goes "tick, tick' , inside it before. However, the clock wasn't ticking then. Peter realized it must have stopped. He began ticking himself so that the other animals would think he was the crocodile and leave him alone. The crocodile, thinking that Peter had taken the clock, followed him. But when Peter reached the ship, Captain(船长) Hook believed the crocodile was coming to get him.

Peter climbed over the side of the ship and went inside a room. He barked like a dog, and all the pirates (海盗) were very afraid. Hook sent two pirates in to find out what the noise was, but they didn't come back. Then he sent in the children. Inside, Peter set them free, and they prepared to fight.

Peter ran out to meet Hook, "It is 1, Peter Pan!" he cried.

"Get him!" cried Hook.

The pirates ran at Peter, and the lost boys ran forward to fight them. The pirates were stronger, but they were so afraid of the ticking and the noise of the dog that they didn't fight well. Finally only Hook was ready to fight. Peter came to fight him. For a long time, the two enemies stood face to face.

They began to fight. At last Peter hit Hook with his sword(剑). Hook began to bleed. Hook continued to fight, but he was not strong any more. He knew he was going to die. He ran to the side of the ship and jumped into the sea. He did not know the crocodile was waiting for him, as it no longer ticked. The crocodile swallowed him in one bite.

The UN Environment Programme says that raising temperatures could mean the end of some migrating (迁徙) animals.

Migrating animals move through several environments as they travel away from the cold area into winter to warmer ones. Birds may fly from one part of the world to another, perhaps stopping at feeding grounds on the way. Whales and turtles travel through huge areas of ocean. A report says that changes in any one of the places where these animals stay can cause serious problems. "Obviously these animals have developed their traveling ways over thousands of years. But weather changes much greater over the next 25 to 50 years. And it is impossible for these animals to change their habits fast enough," said the report writer Dr. Robert Hepworth.

Turtles are hit hardest by rising temperatures. Scientists have found that at higher temperatures, Turtles have far more female eggs than male ones. In parts of Malaysia, Turtles are only giving birth to female babies. And some turtles are more probable to develop cancer as the waters get warmer.

With birds, the main problem is the harm to important areas at the end of their travels or at resting places along the way. About one-fifth of immigration birds are now in danger because of these changes, including rising sea levels, land loss and more strong storms.

Some other animals are now in great danger. For example, the North Atlantic Right Whale is losing their food because of the changing ocean flows; The White-Nose Dolphin is out-competed(淘汰) by other kinds in warmer waters.

The report is not all bad news. Even with the temperature changing, protecting the environment can still help migrating animals return. "We need governments to start taking action all over the world. The clock is ticking. We should make full use of every minute." said Dr. Hepworth. And now some projects are already working! Whales are changing their feeding habits, finding new feeding grounds and new foods to eat.
