    Fish live in water, They use their special organ called gills for breathing. Some fish are dangerous to humans. Here are the world's most dangerous fish.

    Electric Eel (电鳗) —It is a South American fish. Electric eels are long, and generally gray-brown in color. The electric eel can reach up to 9 feet long and can weigh up to 22 kg. The fish has a mouth rich in blood vessels (血管) that can be used as lungs. Its tail has the electric organ that discharges (释放) 300-650 volts of electricity.

    Stonefish—These venomous (有毒的) fish are generally found in the waters of the tropical Indo Pacific. These fish have small eyes and large heads and mouths. If you ever see one, stay well away from it.

    Piranal (水虎鱼) — There are more than 60 species of Piranha fish. These meat-eating fish have sharp teeth. Most of the Piranha species eat anything that they can find or feed on plants.

    Great White Shark —These powerful fish are also known as the white pointer. The great whites have been around for more than15 million years. This shark is known for attacking humans.

    Puffer Fish(河豚) —They can inflate (使膨胀) themselves with water and air to turn into a ball several times their real size. One puffer fish has enough toxins (毒素) to kill about 30 humans. There are total 120 species of puffer fish all over the world.

    The Notting Hill is only a small area in west London, but the Notting Hill Carnival (诺丁山狂欢节) attracts millions of people from all over the world to have fun. The carnival is at the end of August each year, and the main days are Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

    The festival started as a local West Indian event, but from a small procession (游行) through the streets of Notting Hill, it's a huge multi-cultural arts festival now. In fact, it is the largest street carnival (嘉年华会; 狂欢节) in Europe. Only the Rio Carnival in Brazil is bigger.

    At the heart of the festival is a spectacular (壮观的) parade (游行). The carnival route (路线) is three miles long and hundreds of groups move along it. There's music, decorated floats, elaborated costumes and dancing. There are also live stages where artists from all over the world perform, but there is a lot more to the festival than just music. There are 300 food stalls selling international food so you can't get hungry. There's theatre, arts and crafts, too.

    You can sing and dance or you can just watch. But there's no need to be quiet.

    You can buy whistles and blow them to make lots of noise! The Notting Hill Carnival welcomes visitors and tourists.

    Billions of locusts (蝗虫) are moving through farms and fields in the East African countries of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.

    Locusts are grasshoppers. Normally grasshoppers don't travel in groups and so they do little harm. But when there are lots of them, their bodies and behavior change. That's when they become locusts. Locusts travel in huge groups, laying eggs along the way, which produce even more locusts. In a single day, a small swarm (群) of the insects can eat as much food as 35,000 people do.

    The locust swarms in Ethiopia and Somalia are the worst in 25 years. These locusts are desert locusts. They began swarming about six months ago. By moving with the winds, desert locusts can travel up to 90 miles a day or more.

    Locust swarms are more common when heavy rains follow a long dry period. The insects lay their eggs in the wet ground. This season, East Africa has had its heaviest rainy season in 40 years.

    When the insects swarm, one square kilometer of land can hold as many as 150 million locusts. There are 700 square kilometers of land covered by the insects in Kenya alone.

    The insects are a threat to lives in the region, where food is already in short supply. Already many farmers who keep animals are struggling because locusts have eaten out the plants the animals usually live on.

    In East Africa, farmers have been shooting into the air or making noises in the fields, but that doesn't work against so many insects. Experts say that spraying pesticides (杀虫剂) over large areas from airplanes is the only way to reduce the number of insects. The UN has released (释放) $10million to help deal with the locust problem. The UN says about $70 million is needed to truly control the locusts with pesticides.

    Stephen Hawking was born in England in 1942. He is one of the most well-known scientists on space and time in the world. Hawking researched how the universe began and how it ends.

    When he studied math and science at Oxford University, he became seriously ill, which made him unable to speak or breathe without the help of machines. Till his death, he couldn't move or feed himself and he was helped to dress, eat and wash by a nurse. Then he got a wheelchair with a special computer.

    Although Hawking had so many difficulties, he refused to give up his hope of living and went on to study at Cambridge University after graduating from Oxford University. In 1965, he got a Doctor's Degree of philosophy (哲学). , Because of his serious illness, it was difficult for him to draw or to write. So he started to think in pictures. With this new way of thinking, he is respected by people in the world. Then in 1988, he wrote his first important book, A Brief History of Time. It has been sold more than 5. 5 million copies in 33 different languages.

    . His self-confidence and humorous conversations impressed us deeply. From Hawking's unusual experiences, we learn that nobody should lose hope, no matter how bad the situation is. As he once said, "  Life is not fair. "

"These are the lyrics of a song created by a group of  in Malaysia to support China in its battle against the novel coronavirus outbreak.

    "We've got to do something, people outside of China. We want people in China to be free from fear or worry, "said the song's producer.

    It is just one of many goodwill gestures (表示) and offers of support  countries across the world to help China.

    Kobe Bryant was born with basketball already in his blood. His dad was a former NBA star. When Kobe was six years old, his dad  playing basketball in Europe, so his family moved to Italy. The family stayed there for seven years.

    While in Italy, Kobe learned to speak fluent Italian and started playing basketball.

    The family  back to the United States when Kobe was 13 and he started playing high school basketball. Kobe thought he was already good enough  in the NBA, so he skipped college and  right after high school by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1996 NBA Draft. In 2006, Kobe scored a career high 81 point, the second highest point  in NBA history. As a result, he  the season's MVP in the 2007 to 2008 NBA season.

    Electives (选修课) are always popular with students because they offer the chance to learn something exciting, and they're a welcome break from regular courses like maths and physics. Here are just a few of the exciting electives, lucky teenagers can take in some of China's middle schools.
