The term "helicopter parents" refers to "a style of parents who are over focused on their children".

Helicopter parents are always making a big push to provide children with every opportunity to succeed, from baby steps at age 1, homework at age 8, college application at age 18, employment issues at age 25 to family problems at age 30, 40 or even older. They constantly shadow the child, always directing his behavior, allowing him zero alone time.

Helicopter parenting can develop for a number of reasons. Worries about the economy, the job market, and the world in general can push parents toward taking more control over their child's life in an attempt to protect them. Adults who felt unloved or ignored as children can overcompensate their own children. When parents see other overinvolved parents, it can cause a similar response. They feel that if they don't involve themselves in their children's lives, they are bad parents.

The main problem with helicopter parenting is that it can backfire. To give an example, the house where Mary lived with roommates was broken into and things were stolen. Mary called the landlord(房东) to install an alarm system, but before she could finish the negotiations(协商), her mother rushed in and demanded action. "I felt like my mother ruined my communication with our landlord. We could have gotten it done ourselves. She was well intended but only made me feel annoyed and defeated, "says Mary.

Obviously, overparenting is motivated with the idea of doing good things but it does the exact opposite. In the long run parents are actually damaging their children's basic skills to deal with matters independently. It makes the children feel lacking in confidence, less competence in dealing with the stresses of life on their own. They're winning the battle, but actually losing the war.

(1)、What's the purpose of helicopter parents' overparenting?
A、To do something good for their children. B、To make their children not ignored. C、To help their children find a good job. D、To get rid of the pressure from other parents.
(2)、What can we learn from the passage?
A、Children who have helicopter parents live a hard life. B、Helicopter parenting only happens to very young children. C、Helicopter parents can protect their children against all problems. D、Helicopter parents do their children great harm in the long run.
(3)、What will possibly be discussed in the paragraph that follows?
A、The bad effects of helicopter parenting. B、How we can avoid being helicopter parents. C、Different opinions about helicopter parenting. D、The reasons for the development of helicopter parents.
(4)、What is the author's attitude towards "helicopter parenting"?
    A、Uninterested. B、Objective. C、Positive. D、Disapproving.

Fireworks(烟花) can add excitement to all kinds of celebrations. However, fireworks can be very dangerous if not handled and used properly. To reduce the risks associated with a firework display, adults need to be aware of firework safety rules, and so do children who are watching. There are some basic rules to follow.

Make sure you are using only legal fireworks. There are reasons for the banning of certain fireworks, such as safety concerns. Explain to your children the dangers of fireworks and give them a written emergency number to call in case something goes wrong, along with the address of your firework display. Fill a bucket with water and have a fire extinguisher(灭火器)on hand.

Never allow your children to light the fireworks. This should be done only by a responsible adult. Move all children to a safe distance from the fireworks and have them remain there until the show is finished. Make sure the fireworks are set off pointing to the sky and not to the side. To prevent injuries, it is important that the fireworks are never thrown or held in a person's hands while being lit. Because fireworks are very loud, you may want to place earmuffs(耳罩)on young children.

When the firework display is finished, there will be a lot of debris(残骸)to pick up. If there are any fireworks that do not light properly, wait at least fifteen minutes before you get close. Place the faulty fireworks and the firework debris into a bucket of water. This will ensure that none of them will relight. Put all unused fireworks and lighters far out of the reach of children so they can't try to light them. Remember that safety comes first!

(1)、From the passage we can learn       .
A、without fireworks, there are no celebrations B、people should be kept away from fireworks C、fireworks bring more risks than excitement D、fireworks can do great harm to children if not used properly

A、put them upwards B、hold them in the hands C、point them towards the side D、throw them into the sky
(3)、What should you do after you finish the firework display?
A、Leave the faulty fireworks where they are. B、Pick up the firework debris and bring it home. C、Place the unused fireworks in a bucket of water. D、Make sure the debris and unused fireworks are safe.
(4)、Which would be the best title of the passage?
