    My son Daniel began surfing at the age of 13. After school each day he put on his wet suit and waited to be challenged by three-to-six-foot waves. Daniel's love for the ride was tested one1afternoon.

    The construction (建设) of high-speed railways in China began with the building of the Qinhuangdao- Shenyang High-Speed Railway (HSR) in 1999. Now the high-speed rail network in China is the largest in the world. So far, there have been about 1,700 kilometers of HSR in service, along with trains of an average (平均) speed of 220 km/h.

    Now Chinese government plans to spend $300 million building the largest and fastest HSR system in the world by 2020. It's said that the trains can run 400 km/h and create new business for China and other countries through the Belt and Road (一带一路).

    It's predicted that the HSR network in China will reach 30,000 kilometers and it will be like a grid, which is mainly made up of 8 long-distance high-speed rail lines: four north-south HSR lines and four east-west HSR lines. Except for the Qingdao-Taiyuan HSR, all HSR lines of the rail grid are longer than 1,000 kilometers.

    Feng Hao, an expert, says "Many markets along the Belt and Road, especially in Central Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Eastern European countries, are planning to build HSR lines. They look forward to getting technological support from China".

    I have read plenty of articles about self- improvement these past few months, and most of them tell you that you need to wake up and keep positive (积极的). When you wake up, you need to think that something great is going to happen today, and that you are going to have a great day. This kind of positive attitude (态度) is supposed to change your whole day.

    So this morning I woke up and decided to give it a whirl. The sun was shining brightly through my bedroom window, and it immediately gave me this warm feeling inside. I thought to myself, "Today is going to be a great day. One of the best days ever!" I got out of bed, took my morning shower and began to get dressed. I put on a pair of dress pants I have not worn for a while, followed by my dress shirt and that is when it began. I reached into my left pocket and pulled out what felt like some paper.

    I pulled out a $100 bill and a $50 bill in the same pocket. It seemed like the best thing that had happened to me these days. Yes, $150 starts off my day! I'm sure if someone could have seen the smile on my face, they would have understood. I shouted in joy, with my poor dog looking at me like I was crazy!

    Start your morning off thinking you are going to have the best day ever and you just might! I really want to know what will happen next.

    In the eyes of five-year-old Youyou, his mother is like Ultraman, a superhero in a cartoon series, who is fighting bad guys every day.

    His mother, Lu Jingjing, a doctor at Wuhan Children's Hospital, is now working at the mobile cabin hospital at the Wuhan International Conference & Exhibition Center, taking care of novel coronavirus- infected (新冠病毒感染的) patients.

    Since Lu left home for the cabin hospital on Feb. 4, Youyou has kept asking his mother through video chat: "Mom, how many viruses (病毒) did you beat today?"

The mother of Youyou and a one-year-old daughter, Lu was sent to do support work at a community quarantine (隔离) center on Feb. 2 and then to the cabin hospital two days later.

    While she was packing to leave for the cabin hospital from home, Youyou cried and tried to stop Lu from leaving, knowing he would not see his mother for a long time. Lu patiently explained to him what the virus is, and told him that she would fight the virus with the cartoon superhero, Ultraman.

    "He then calmed down and let me go because in his mind, Ultraman is the strongest in the battlefield and could definitely help me win," Lu said. Since then, her son keeps asking through video chat how many viruses Lu has killed every day and helps her add them up.

    "He may not know clearly about why I'm away from home, ___________," she said, "He told me that he had planted a cherry tree and would reward me with cherries when I get back. Every time he said Mom, I miss you', I couldn't stop bursting into tears."

    "I think a lot of kids are afraid to ask for help," Sachem North High School's Erin Maryzek says, "If you don't understand a concept (概念), let the teacher know. Most of my teachers offered extra review every day after school."

    Reduce stress

    "It's not just study, study, study," says Roslyn High School's Todd Warshawsky."I was a runner. Running was a great stress reliever from study." Sachem North's Maryzek agrees, "Though school work is important, it's also important to reduce stress and have fun in healthy ways."

    Say no to romance

"Don't get a girlfriend or boyfriend," advises Esteban Idrovo, who is studying physics at Stony Brook University. "I started dating in the ninth grade. I got too distracted (分心的). I lost a lot of friends because I spent too much time on this relationship."

    It is often said that eyes can speak. Do you have such kind of (经历)? On a bus you may look at a (陌生人), but not too long. If he (注意到) that he is looked at, he may feel (不舒服的).     It was our school's talent show. I (be) excited that I was chosen by the teacher this time although I didn't have any experience of dancing for a show. I would dance in front of all the students and (teacher). It made me very proud.
