What is Strengths Finder
Do you have the opportunity to do best every day?
Chances are you don't. All too often, our natural talents go undeveloped. We devote more time to fixing our disadvantages than to developing our advantages.
In 1998, the Father of Strengths Psychology, Donald O. Clifton, Ph. D. (1924～2003), along with Tom Rath and a team of scientists at The Gallup Organization, created the online Strenghths Finder assessment (评估).
To help people develop their talents, in 2001, Gallup introduced the first online assessment, Strengths Finder, which led to a global conversation and helped millions to discover their top five talents. In 2004, the assessment's name was formally changed to Clifton Strengths Finder in honor of its designer.
In 2007, Rath and Gallup scientists released (发行) a new edition (版本) of the assessment called Strengths Finder 2.0. Rooted (扎根) in more than 40 years of research, this assessment has continued to help millions discover and develop their natural talents.
In its latest national bestseller, Strengths Finder 2,0, Gallup releases the new and improves its popular assessment and much more. While you can read this book, you'll use it as a reference for decades.

What are martial (武术的)arts and swordsmen like? To most Chinese, the answer to this question can be found in the works of the late novelist Jin Yong. Jin, whose real name was Zha Liangyong, died on Tuesday evening in Hong Kong, aged 94. The news soon spread all over Chinese mainland, where he inspired a generation, guiding them into the world of Wuxia, namely, swordsmen.
In his books, readers can learn about Chinese calligraphy(书法), painting, music, medicine and wine. He was the most successful writer in popularizing traditional Chinese culture. Chinese people had a deeply-rooted admiration for noble qualities and love for the country. So he won many people's heart. Many people are fond of watching films and TV dramas adapted from his books, which influenced many peopled personality and value.
Jin's influence knew no national boundary. No matter in New York, Singapore or Vancouver, where there are Chinese, there are his readers. His death marks the end of an era for martial art novels. We can hardly expect to see other writers with such influence and artistic achievement as him.
In terms of writing technique, Jin borrowed from Western plays. Some of his plots were just like ancient Greek tragedy. For instance, in his Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils (《天龙八部》), the hero was like a tragic figure in Greek mythology. Writers in the West created new worlds like the one in the Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. If there is an imagined world in China, that is the world with martial arts and swordsmen Jin wrote for us.(1)、How does Jin influence his readers?A、By making films and TV dramas. B、By making his readers read his books. C、By making his readers love for country. Closeness and independence are both important in our life. Though all humans need both of them women tend to focus on the first and men on the second. It is as if their lifeblood ran in different directions.
These differences can give women and men differing views of the same situation, as they did in the case of couple I will call Tracy and Brian. When Brian's old high school friend called him at work and announced he'd be in town on business the following month, Brian invited him to stay for the weekend. That evening he informed Tracy that they were going to have a houseguest, and that he and his friend would go out together the first night to chat like old times. Tracy was upset. She was going to be away on business the week before, and the Friday night when Brian would be out with his friend would be her first night home. But what upset her the most was that Brian had made these plans on his own and informed her of them, rather than discussing them with her before extending the invitation.
Tracy would never make plans, for a weekend or an evening, without first checking with Brian. She can't understand why he doesn't show her the same courtesy and consideration that she shows him. But when she protests, Brian says, "I can't say to my friend, 'I have to ask my wife for permission'!"
To Brian, checking with his wife means seeking permission, which implies that he is not independent, not free to act on his own. To Tracy, checking with her husband makes her feel good to know and show that she is involved with someone, that her life is bound up with someone else's.
Tracy and Brian both felt upset by this incident because it cut to the core of their primary concerns. Tracy was hurt because she sensed a failure of closeness in their relationship: He didn't care about her as much as she cared about him. And he was hurt because he felt she was trying to control him and limit his freedom.(1)、What is the primary purpose of the author in writing this passage?A、To educate the reader on how to maintain good family relationships. B、To tell the reader how to make close connections with other people. C、To suggest the best way of coping with family conflicts. D、To explain the difference in communication styles between men and women.(2)、Tracy was upset because ________.A、she didn't know Brian's friend B、she was too busy to meet Brian's friend C、Brian didn't care about her and hurt her deeply D、Brian didn't consult her before inviting his friends home(3)、What would Tracy most probably do if she plans to buy something expensive?A、She would discuss with Brian. B、She would simply decide on her own. C、She would ask her friends for advice. D、She would buy Brian something expensive first.(4)、According to the passage, compared with men, women tend to ________.A、be more emotional B、be easier to get hurt C、emphasize more on sharing D、emphasize more on independence4. 阅读理解
Video producer and musician Justin Scholar enjoyed his fantastic moment weeks ago when he spotted his latest work playing on a huge electronic screen at New York's Times Square.
"It's sort of the American dream to see your name up inlights,'' says the 25-year-old New Jersey native. “I'd never really cared about my name being that big, but going to New York and seeing the big screens, you always wonder if your work is going to make it up there.

He also fell in love with the city, where he ate a lot of authentic xiaolongbao, or steamed meat buns, and felt safe walking on the streets at 3 am.
Shanghai impresses Scholar as an efficient, modern city calling for greater business prosperity with foreign participation, so he returned two years later, when his career at home was already booming after making commercials for big names such as Coca-Cola and Jaguar.
Thanks to a combination of luck and talent, he achieved the goal soon with a Chinese friend as his business partner, and the company has already produced some 15 videos for pop icons, fashionistas, and art museums in merely six months.
